#GymRat?

I always thought the gym was the place to be if I wanted that perfect body, hewn from that “special” equipment that can only be found at the gym (*sniff*)! Yeah right! Well as it turns out, ignorance plus good intentions mean nothing and DO nothing for helping you lose weight, get fit, and improving your health. The statistics are out there, and the news is not good-obesity and poor health are on the rise and signing up for a gym membership is NOT the magic pill. Who’d a thunk it?! The reality is that more than 70% of people who sign up for a gym membership, fitness program,etc quit, anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

I’ve since made the calculation that the best gym or fitness program in the world, can NOT solve our current healthcare epidemic; in fact, this is one where a mult-pronged attack on all fronts needs to be implemented if we’re truly serious about addressing the issue of obesity in our nation as well as the global front. We need to understand that WE have the power to change OUR health and fitness and ONLY WE can make the necessary changes to achieve these ends. I’m so tired of all the weight-loss gimmicks and tricks that are being peddled out there instead of “people” being real and honest about the fact that fitness and health require commitment, education (i.e. educating ourselves about our food sources ), access to quality healthcare, healthy foods (i.e. not processed and packaged junk marketed ย as “quick and healthy”alternatives), and a full on conscious shift to change the way we think about health and our relationship to food.

I’ve done the whole #gymrat routine as well as the at home platform, and for me, the gym is both a distraction and ineffectual (at least for me ) when it comes to sticking to a fitness program or gaining lasting results. This is not to say that going to the gym is a waste of time; it’s not-but for me and anyone else out there who thrives in a social environment that is stripped of pump, fads, and the whole “personal trainer” phenomena ย (*wink*), the gym is not where I get motivated.

My fitness journey took me outside of the artificial environment of the gym and where I had to make the conscious decision, plan, and course of action to change my way of thinking about fitness and health relative to on within the context of my daily life and personal goals! Ding, ding, an epiphany hits me ย and I realize that this is what most people fail to see or grasp (and most gyms fail to communicate to potential clients); the fact that fitness is not a one time deal, destination or moment in time. The act of getting fit and healthy requires personal development (i.e. it’s not all about the outside), and a total lifestyle shift. The same responsibilities you fulfill in the course of meeting your daily obligations and commitments also exist if you want to be fit and healthy in all areas of your life.

No one ever said this was easy, ONLY that it is NECESSARY if you want to live a healthy and full life, the question you should be asking yourself tight now is, “WHY AM I still doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result?” I don’t know about you but I’m getting outside and engagaging with the nature, the world, and the universe around me, as I continue on my journey to fitness, health, and fulfilment! blessings on the journey!๐Ÿ‘ฃ

Now that my last rant is over, it’s time to dedicate some time to “reflection”  and the meat of the matter. Skeptic that I am, when ever someone tells me about some “miracle” weight-loss pill, diet or “beverage ” I just start to mentally bang my head against ANY hard surface and say,  SERIOUSLY?!

I mean this stuff is like a “dungus”! You know, that cross between crap and fungus? Yeah, that stuff.๐Ÿ˜ There’s really no shortcut to a healthier, stronger you and ANY one who claims there is such a “cure” is literally lying his/ her ass off. Just sayin’๐Ÿ˜Ž maybe I watch way too much late night television,  and definitely too much sci-fi AND Game of Thrones , BUT,my level of  amazement just goes right up when I  think about the crap that is being pushed on people who are desperately seeking a solution to their health care crisis-a life or death situation.

It’s heart breaking to see such misery and defeat in the eyes of soo many women ( in case you haven’t figured it out yet, my passion is women’s health ๐Ÿ˜‰) who “think” they are trying a product, or cure all, only to waste their money on some snake oil being pushed by some famous person who by the way, has NEVER actually used the product.

The bottom line is, first, ACCEPT all of YOU plus your imperfections (and baggage) and then connect with the support and guidance that will get you on track with your health and fitness.  So to recap: Make a DECISION, PLAN, and take ACTION! Without these three things you’re literally on a hamster wheel going no where.

For everyone in my “fit tribe” of women (fitness accountability group), the understanding is that WE are ALL on this fitness journey together, encouraging one another to stay the course to achieving fitness, stating healthy, and living a fully empowered life! ๐Ÿ‘Š I’m just a quirky,  eclectic sci-fi chick leading my tribe to fitness, health, freedom and self-empowerment.

 I’ve gotta say, oh how sweet this journey and what a relief to be free from the constraints and expectations of people who don’t know the struggle or understand the feminine power that comes from self-acceptance and the “DECISION” (making that decision to change your health and life)…blessings on the journey ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

PAIN!

Today I want to talk about pain. There are different types and levels of pain, but today I realized that we are all going through various issues and even painful experiences in our lives. It’s NOT that I didn’t know this, it’s more like the power behind this truth hadn’t sunk in until today (meh, I’m thinking I did, but I needed to be reminded ). Today I was blown away by a woman’s confession to me on Facebook about how she has been struggling with weight gain, how she lost weight only to start gaining the weight once more. I’m going to skip the details and just say, DAMN!

There are so many people struggling with weight issues, body image, self-esteem (related to these same issues), and the boat-load of other crap that comes with it!๐Ÿ˜
Today? She’s now reaching out to me and taking those FIRST few difficult steps to freedom and empowerment. I feel so blessed to say SHE IS NOT ALONE and NEITHER ARE YOU!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‰ that’s why I am so emotional right now as I sit here and write and tell my story and share helping someone else CHANGE her life AND her story, because there are so many more narratives just like this; gut wrenching accounts of other women out there struggling in isolation and in some cases, shame, simply because they need some help and support!

THIS IS MY MISSION and MY calling; there a lot of women out there who are hurting who are suffering with physical setbacks coupled with weight gain, anxiety, depression poor health poor eating habits, unhealthy lifestyles and just all-around spinning on that hamster wheel!๐Ÿ˜ฅ
and so today I am moved to reach out even more women who are looking for someone who is authentic who is Sincere who is real who has gone through the same struggles on this fitness journey and so I want to pump in Courage I want to motivate every woman out there who is other secretly trying to do it all alone, to just STOP!๐Ÿšฆ STOP trying to do it all alone without support, feeling ashamed because you need some help. Bottom line?

WE ALL need a little help sometimes, and to those who say it’s “not that hard to do” YOU DON’T speak for everyone out there, so NOW WHAT?!DId, did, did i stutter?! EXACTLY! ๐Ÿ‘ŠReardless, im going to continue my journey and mission as I live the fit, reaching out to the rest of my “tribe” of women on the journey to health, fitness, empowerment and joyful authenticity.๐Ÿ™…
Moving along to speaking and connecting with all those in need of some knowledge, help, and encouragement because I RECOGNIZE that I am NOT alone on this adventure.๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ˜ค Wow, now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, time to move on to the next exciting phase as I continue the journey to achieving fitness in my body, spirit, and mind. I’m in it to win it, kick some ass doing it, embracing the ride๐Ÿš˜ and taking My Tribe along for the journey2๐Ÿ‘ฃ

Get uncomfortable!

 

Too many times we get stuck because we get too comfortable in our lives, the status quo, our fears, and jobs that while they may not be our passion, at least they “guarantee ” a regular check / pay so that we can continue to pay our bills and go on the proverbial ” vacation” or “stay-cation” (Iย  soo hate that made up word,ย  for vacations you can’t afford to go on!). Still, being uncomfortable is not a feeling I’ve been encouraged to feel-especially during my formative years (i.e. childhood ). Now, I find myself growing and expanding beyond my comfort zone and that’s huge! Imagine breaking free from the weight, expectations and demands of people, situations and entanglements that if you’re honest, you should have long since terminated.

It’s scary but necessary and while it might be nice to stick with the comfortable and mundane-that won’t take you to the NEXT level! Fear, mediocrity and a lack of established ย boundaries will not just hinder you from moving forward, they will also chain and enslave you to your current place in life. I know, it sounds depressing BUT, that old phrase? “Use it or lose it”? It’s true; if you don’t grow you will stagnate and atrophy (metaphorically speaking, of course! ).

Well what does that have to do with working out, blah blah blah? A LOT actually; if you don’t work out you lose muscle, strength, flexibility and even your health (depending on how far you go). The same way you train and work out your body, recognize it’s limits / boundaries and uniqueness, ARE the same exact strategies you use to develop internally as well as set limits for yourself and others (i.e. what’s acceptable for you in a relationship, when to say no, etc ).

Only YOU can make those calculations, and that ability and experience comes through A.C.T.I.O.N. There is really no way around it if YOU ARE serious about not just your physical fitness, but your emotional and mental health as well. For me, getting fit and healthy is the gateway for all things positive, empowering, and growth inspiring! This journey is oh soo exhilarating, but also demands that I let go of my fears and “baggage”-Wow! SCARRRRY!!!๐Ÿ™ˆ

Bottom line? Be true to yourself and own it all, the good, the bad and yes, the ugly (sorry I couldn’t resist the movie reference; it’s a classic action flick / spaghetti western , and I’m an action/ Scifi buff so sue me!๐Ÿ˜œ).ย Just, stretch yourself…๐Ÿ‘ฃwp-1465063791377.jpg

Yep it’s been a “min” since my last post,buuut let me just say, when things go all kinds of crazy sometimes you have to just L.E.T. I.T. G.O.๐Ÿ‘Š It’s been a busy couple of days full of mishaps, work, physical setbacks and today? Well, let’s just say that I’m not a violent person or else the heifer who side swiped my car would be missing a few teeth ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ‘Š

Yeah I know it’s not the adult response but dang it! There are people and forces that can really get you riled up and off balance-distract you from your goal! As I sit here ranting away, I’m so ticked off about it all and yet, I’m also shouting out loud that this has just “MOTIVATED” me to not let all those negative forces divert me from my prize! That prize is SUCCESS- Success in my health and fitness, success in my business, and just being the positive and gifted person I’ve been called to be!๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜œ Next stop, putting ALL of that into action…BOOM SHAKA LAKA!!

Hmmm, how’s that list coming along?

Well, how is it? You know that long list of to-dos that you were planning to tear through at the speed of light, like X-men’s blowing through the baddies all in a single flurry? Yeah, that one!
The bottom line is, NOTHING will change if I DON’T MOVE! So I decided to get my butt back in gear and REMEMBER why I started on this journey ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘Š Maybe that’s not your story, but I know I’m NOT the only one who has or is struggling with health issues, trying to lose weight or is just straight up trying to make the switch to a healthy lifestyle. image

I’ve found tremendous support by becoming both a beach body coach and partnering with an awesome challenge group filled with people striving for the same thing. It’s HARD I won’t lie, but IT’S worth it, and most importantly, I’M WORTH IT!๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘Š What about YOU,out there? Are you struggling too? Need some help and motivation? FIT Tuesday…

FIT Tuesday…

Another day has come and goneย  but Tuesday is still going strong, ha haha! Yes I worked up a sweat >>hammering and chiseling<< my way to being fit and ooh so much stronger than I was yesterday!ย  I guess you could say I’m just a “bit” EXCITED when I look back over the last six months and say to myself “you’ve come a long way baby”!

Getting fit, healthy AND STAYING that way MUST be maintained;ย  you don’t just work to get there and then expect to magically stay that way! Ha ha, DUH! Good luck with that fantasy! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ๐Ÿ˜‰

What’s your yardstick for measuring healthy? I hope it’s not “skinny” because frankly, there’re A LOT of UNHEALTHY skinny people poping up all over the Internet! A distorted body image is a great way to end up unhealthy and possibly lose your life! Eating healthy, having a great exercise and accountability regime IS THE BEST thing you can do for yourself! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Remember, there’s no shame in admitting you NEED TO change your lifestyle; it doesn’t matter where you start, JUST DO IT ALREADY! !!
